About Me

My name is Guangping (Walter) Wang. I’m a professor of marketing at Pennsylvania State University, where I have been teaching and conducting research in marketing, statistics, and economics for more than two decades. In my spare time, I pursue my passion in drawing, painting, and designing.

I was born in China in the year the dictator Mao Zedong kicked off his infamous Cultural Revolution, a deadliest blow to truth in humanity, the damaging impact of which can still be seen anywhere you look in China and beyond.

I grew up in a remote but pristine mountain village in east China where the closest bus stop was ten miles away. The area has now been developed as a tourist destination for its natural beauty, which ironically has already been destroyed by the myopic developers and the trash, pollution, and congestion brought in by the visitors.

It is from this background that I came to appreciate why truth and beauty are one and such a one is the only meaning of life and the most enduring source of joy for man, yet is so scarce, fragile, and vulnerable in the modern commercialized world.

My restless curiosity guides me to discover visual beauty and truth as I observe and feel the world around me: nature, people, animals, and others. I use a variety of tools, including painting, drawing, photography, and collage, to create and express.

I am always interested in doing a little bit gardening in the backyard. The Northeastern suburban environment offers abundance of resources but also presents significant obstacles for the casual gardener. To that end, I designed a few environmentally sustainable products that are commercially available to help gardeners like myself.

I’m happy to share with you what I have created, and I’m honored that you are here. If you have any comments or critique on my work, I’d love to hear from you. Please feel free to reach out using the following contact form. Thank you!
