I look. And
I look. And
I look again.
Then I will see.
This is how I try to see.

About Me
My name is Guangping Walter Wang. I’m a professor of marketing at Pennsylvania State University, where I have been teaching and conducting research in marketing, statistics, and economics for almost three decades. In my spare time, I pursue my passion in visual art, namely, drawing and painting.
My subject matter is varied. Still life, plants, animals, portraits, and figures are all open for exploration. I approach any and all subjects with the same attention and seriousness. Their dignity and beauty are not debatable, and I treat them with respect and deference. I feel privileged to be able to look at them, exam them, and discover and reveal the truth about them.
I was born in China in the year the dictator Mao Zedong kicked off his infamous Cultural Revolution, a deadliest blow to truth in humanity, the damaging impact of which can still be seen anywhere you look in China and beyond.
I grew up in a remote but pristine mountain village in east China where the closest bus stop was ten miles away. The area has now been developed as a tourist destination for its natural beauty, which ironically has already been destroyed by the myopic developers and the trash, pollution, and congestion brought in by the visitors.
It is from this background that I came to appreciate why truth and beauty are one and such a one is the only meaning of life and the most enduring source of joy for man, yet is so scarce, fragile, and vulnerable in the modern commercialized world.
My restless curiosity guides me to discover visual beauty and truth as I observe and feel the world around me: nature, people, animals, and others. I use a variety of tools, including painting, drawing, photography, and collage, to create and express.
